Demo build on sample data

One P&L, one cash plan and one board pack for a group with very different businesses

Finance and operations in one place, so the investment team can see how a farm, a production line or a retail unit shows up in group earnings.

This is a demo build. It runs on sample data. We keep the group's name private.

The problem

A diversified group has a hard job at the top. One group might run farms, a production line and retail property at the same time. Each business has its own cycles, risks and reports. The CFO has to turn all of it into one P&L, one cash plan and one board pack.

Usually that means spreadsheets passed between teams, an annual budget that's out of date by spring, and weeks of work before every board meeting. Capital gets spread by habit more than by return. Input costs and currency moves show up in the results before anyone acts on them.

What we built

A group command center

Group earnings, margin, cash and board-pack status on one screen, with open issues and the action for each.

Scenarios and forecasting

Move export prices, input costs and capex, and see earnings, margin and free cash flow update. A rolling forecast replaces the static annual budget, with downside cases flagged.

A view into each business

Every operating arm has its own screen with the numbers that matter for it, tied back to the group P&L.

What's in it

  • Cash and liquidity: a 13-week cash forecast, working capital targets and covenant headroom.
  • Revenue and margin: revenue by segment and a margin bridge that explains each move in volume, price, input cost, efficiency and currency.
  • Capital allocation: every project ranked by return on capital, with a suggestion for where the next round of capex goes.
  • Risk and hedging: a live register for input costs, currency, prices and liquidity, with suggested hedges.
  • Board and investor reporting: a board pack that assembles itself, a reporting checklist, a disclosure draft and likely analyst questions.
  • Operating screens for aquaculture, agriculture, a manufacturing line and retail property: harvest timing, yield, line efficiency, occupancy and slow-moving lines.
  • Ask a question like "what's our cash runway?" or "prepare the board summary."

What it would take to go live

How the group runs. Each segment's systems, how finance closes the month and what the board actually asks for.

The data. Accounting and operating data mapped to the group's reporting standards, keeping only the modules that matter.

A first version in about 10 days, usually group finance plus one operating segment.

The group owns its data and the system.
