How we calculated this
  1. Unbilled revenue: 1 visits × $90 × 26 days × 3 = $7,020
  2. Bay time: 40 cars × 2 min ÷ 60 × $22/hr × 26 days × 3 = $2,288
  3. Monthly fee: not entered
  4. Payback: setup $0 ÷ net per month –
  5. Break-even visits: monthly fee per store ÷ average ticket = –

How the formula works

Monthly recovered = (unbilled visits × average ticket + cars × minutes recovered ÷ 60 × labor cost) × open days × stores. Take off the monthly fee to get the net. Payback is the one-time setup divided by that net.

Break-even is the monthly fee per store divided by your average ticket: the number of unbilled visits per store per month that pay for the system on their own. If your stores lose more than that, the cameras pay for themselves before you count any bay time.

To find your real unbilled number, read how to match bay cameras to POS tickets. For how bay time turns into labor numbers, see technician efficiency vs productivity.

Questions

How do I know how many unbilled visits I have?

Match two weeks of bay camera visits to POS tickets by bay and time, then clear legit no-charge visits like top-offs, comebacks and warranty re-checks. What is left is your real number. Until then, run the calculator at a few different values.

Why does the calculator not show a price?

Camera analytics pricing depends on how many bays, cameras and stores you have and whether new hardware is needed. Enter the quote you have, from us or anyone else, and the calculator works out payback from it.

What counts as bay time recovered?

Minutes per car you get back once you can see where cars wait: slow handoffs, waiting on approvals, a bay opening late. Many operators start at zero here and count only unbilled visits, which keeps the estimate conservative.

Does this work for a car wash?

Yes. Use washes per day for cars, your average sale for ticket, and unpaid or unmatched washes for unbilled visits. Leave bay minutes at zero unless you have staff time you expect to save.
