How we calculated this
  1. Missed calls per day: 40 × 20% = 8
  2. Lost cars per day: 8 × 24% = 1.9
  3. Lost revenue per day: 1.9 × $100 = $192
  4. Per month, one store: $192 × 26 days = $4,992
  5. All stores: $4,992 × 1 = $4,992 a month, × 12 = $59,904 a year

Benchmarks from Marchex, Invoca, NOLN and AutoLeap. Invoca’s data covers all of automotive (OEMs, dealers, parts retailers and service centers), not quick lubes alone. AutoLeap figures are vendor-reported. Results are an estimate, not a guarantee.

How the formula works

Monthly lost revenue = calls per day × miss rate × booking rate × average ticket × open days, then multiplied by your number of stores. The yearly figure is the monthly figure × 12.

The “recoverable” number compares your miss rate with 10%, the level Marchex calls healthy for automotive service. The math counts one ticket per lost caller, so it leaves out repeat visits and upsells. Turn on the callback adjustment if many of your missed callers ring back.
