Demo build on sample data

What the senior people know, on the floor for every shift

A knowledge assistant that gives operators, maintenance and tooling different answers to the same question, and won't guess when there's no verified fix.

This is a demo build. It runs on sample data. We keep the plant's name private.

The problem

A stamping plant runs on what a few senior people know. Which press jams when the coil is over-oiled. What torque goes on a die shoe after a regrind. Why one fault code clears itself and another means call maintenance now.

Most of that lives in people's heads, in binders and in old work orders nobody can search. When the night shift hits a problem, they wait for someone to pick up the phone. When a veteran retires, the knowledge leaves with them.

The owner had already tried a knowledge tool. Two things bothered him. Everyone got the same answer, so operators were seeing repair steps they shouldn't act on. And every new piece of knowledge landed in one long list, newest on top, where things got buried.

What we built

Answers by role

An operator, a maintenance tech and a tooling manager can ask the same question and get different answers. An operator with a misfeeding press gets the safe checks they're allowed to do and a clear point to stop and file a work order. Maintenance gets the deeper steps.

Answers with sources

Every answer shows the approved documents it came from, tied to a specific press and workstation. If there's no verified fix on record, the assistant says so and escalates. It won't borrow one press's fix for another.

An approval queue

New knowledge doesn't go live on its own. It's routed by topic to the right team and waits until a manager approves it. Safety items sort to the top.

What's in it

  • A role switcher for operator, maintenance and tooling, with permissions that change per role.
  • Pre-filled work orders when an operator reaches the safe stopping point.
  • Escalation to maintenance and safety when there's no verified answer.
  • Approve, veto and reassign on every captured item, with filters by category and team.
  • Part number, workstation and category on every routed item, with room for photos, setup videos and voice notes.
  • Knowledge sources: machine manuals, die setup sheets, expert interviews and past work orders.
  • RFQ quote drafting that reads the part spec, finds similar past jobs and estimates material, tonnage, setup and run time for an estimator to review.
  • A press health board with vibration and motor current per press, and drafted work orders for approval.

What it would take to go live

Time on the floor. The presses, the dies, who's allowed to do what, and where the knowledge lives today.

The real documents. Manuals, setup sheets and closed work orders, plus sessions with the senior people to capture what isn't written down.

A first version in about 10 days, on a private internal deployment. The plant owns its data, and none of it is used to train outside models.
